Meanwhile Skip has lifted the ban on discussing the NBA mainly to point out the historic run that James Harden is on. Josh has a few NHL notes and Skip is pissed at the guys from PTI. Which rookie quarterbacks can make an impact this season and which second year QBs can become stars? Will any of last years playoff teams struggle this year? Which up and coming teams are ready to become contenders? Does Jimmy G. have what it takes to lead the 49ers? Can the Patriots make it back to the Super Bowl (again)? Do the Eagles have what it takes to repeat? Of course there are some predictions, a discussion about some of the major rule changes and of course Neil brings some fancy stats like DVOA and Pythagorean wins.

Episode 62 – NFL Week 6 Recap and the Start of the NHL Season

iTunes | Google Play | Stitcher | Direct Download

nhl_nfl.jpgRecorded Oct 15, 2017. Skip and Josh recap a very unpredictable week 6 in the NFL and also give their thoughts on the start of the NHL season.  In the NFL the Packers title hopes came to a sudden end with the devastating injury to Aaron Rodgers. Josh can’t believe that no one seems to know the rules about what counts as a touchdown these days. The Eagles are for real which means happy times at Skip’s house.
In the NHL the Leafs are off to a hot start seemingly scoring at will while the Habs can’t seem to score at all. Can Carey Price turn things around in Montreal? How good can Austin Matthews become in Toronto?

iTunes | Google Play | Stitcher | Direct Download

1wlc8j.jpgRecorded Sep 26, 2017.  In this episode Skip and Josh recap week three of the NFL season.  Skip starts the show by explaining why the guys will not discuss anything related to anthems, taking a knee or politics in general. It was a bad week for the favorites and the NFL finally surprised everyone with some shocking results. The Eagles needed a miracle to beat the Giants despite all their injuries. The Falcons and Chiefs are the lone undefeated teams left, can they both win next week? The Lions got hosed, big time! The Bears, Bills, and Jaguars all pulled off big upsets while the Browns, 49ers and Bengals continue to find ways to lose. Skip has already given out the fantasy football MVP award while Cub is still wondering what the difference is between power rankings and standings. There’s a bit of NHL talk and the guys answer some listener mail.

The guys also discuss the Pro-Bowl and the useless extra week before the Super Bowl and wonder if Canadian viewers will ever see the real commercials during the big game. Josh also lets us know how he feels about the Hab’s Andrew Shaw while Skip is not so impressed with the food at the NCAA Football-Texas hold’em party that Josh recently attended.
