Skip and Josh take a break from counting down their favorite things and instead catch up on some news from the world of sports and pop culture including: The Canadian men’s soccer team, the NFL playoffs, Tom Brady’s retirement, The failed Tampa-Montreal baseball plan, some bad uniforms, and Josh’s newfound love of curling.
Josh opens the show with some TV recommendations, Skip reads some listener mail and the guys react to the recent coaching change for the Montreal Canadiens before counting down their favorite podcasts (other than their own of course). Josh opens the show with the revelation that he is much less stressed out since he stopped watching so much sports. The guys discuss some tennis news, a baseball player getting injured putting on pants, the hero and zero of the week plus the mailbag. The guys open the show by discussing the NHL’s big announcement this week outlining their playoff format. Josh had a big problem this week and it was all about Tim Wallach’s pants from 1991, luckily he was able to get some outside help to solve the mystery. In this episode: March Madness is in full swing, Skip and Josh recap the amazing first weekend of the NCAA tournament (3:53) which was full of upsets, buzzer beaters and fantastic finishes. Virginia made some history by becoming the first #1 seed to lose to a #16. Skip is wondering if the NCAA should consider moving the three-point line. There’s also a bracket challenge update where it’s clear that sometimes the less you know the better it is when making picks. Josh shares some gambling stories (24:18) and as usual has something to say about uniforms (31:30). It was also a big week in the NFL (33:41) with tons of high profile players changing teams.
