Skip and Josh take a break from counting down their favorite things and instead catch up on some news from the world of sports and pop culture including: The Canadian men’s soccer team trying to qualify for the world cup, Skip’s message for Aaron Rodgers, MLB awards, Josh’s TV recommendations, the start of the college basketball season, Peyton and Eli on MNF and the Habs brutal start to the NHL season.
The guys temporarily return to an old school episode where they cover a wide variety of topics from the words of sports and pop culture from the past month including: more strange injuries and unwritten rules in baseball, the NHL playoffs, how the NFL can make an event out of the release of the schedule, some TV recommendations, a couple of items for the What Bugs Me segment and of course the mailbag.

More controversy in the March Madness Bracket Challenge (4:23) and an etiquette question has the guys stumped. In the NHL playoffs (14:29) the Bruins-Leafs and Caps-Blue Jackets have provided some great playoff hockey, meanwhile the Flyers still haven’t figure out their goalie situation (its been 30 years). The NBA playoffs (20:44) have been really compelling especially with the possibility of Lebron getting knocked out in the first round.In Baseball (27:16) the Jays are o ff to a great start but the Red Sox are even hotter. Bartolo Colon almost blew up twitter (again) and there was a no hitter this week. The NFL (34:48) announced some silly scheduling changes, Josh recommends some new podcasts (36:55) and Skip is trying to eliminate the customer-salesperson interaction in his own What Bugs Me (42:21).
Recorded April 15, 2018. On Skip’s birthday the guys talk about the start of the season in Major League Baseball (3:22). Strange injuries, useless bench clearing brawls and how Shohei Ohtani is bringing the fun back to baseball.
The NHL Playoffs (19:02) are underway. Is there no end to the ridiculous stats surrounding the Vegas Golden Knights? How are Maple Leaf fans reacting to their team getting manhandled so far?
In the NFL (26:18) the big news is Cowboy’s releasing Dez Bryant. Does he still have anything left and where could he end up playing?

In this episode: March Madness is in full swing, Skip and Josh recap the amazing first weekend of the NCAA tournament (3:53) which was full of upsets, buzzer beaters and fantastic finishes. Virginia made some history by becoming the first #1 seed to lose to a #16. Skip is wondering if the NCAA should consider moving the three-point line. There’s also a bracket challenge update where it’s clear that sometimes the less you know the better it is when making picks. Josh shares some gambling stories (24:18) and as usual has something to say about uniforms (31:30). It was also a big week in the NFL (33:41) with tons of high profile players changing teams.
Recorded Feb 16, 2018. The NFL is season is over, Skip shares some final thoughts on the season. The guys discuss the controversy over the free agent situation in Major League Baseball, salaries in pro sports, and how small market teams can survive. Josh has some questions about all the moves that the Cleveland Cavaliers just made and Skip is happy to answers them. In the NHL the trade deadline is approaching, Josh can’t stand Brad Marchand, and Skip shares a story about Wayne Gretzky. The episode wouldn’t be complete without Josh sharing what’s bugging him.

In the NFL Playoffs the Saints are in shock, Stefon Diggs is still celebrating, Josh can’t stand the Patriots and is it possible for a head coach to hate his starting quarterback?
Skip is not happy with TSN for ripping off their What Bugs Me segment, meanwhile Josh is only slightly bugged by the Pirates fire sale and a pretty minor thing he discovered about the upcoming NCAA tournament.
In the NHL Skip has given up on the Habs and what they may or may not do at the trade deadline. The guys pay tribute to the late great Red Fisher and give some shout outs.

In the NFL, Josh is wondering how there can be three shutouts in one week. Skip is not sure if Cam Newton is any good. The SuperBowl rematch wasn’t really great and Skip tries to get into the minds of Giant and Jets fans.
Meanwhile in Montreal, the guys look at best and worst case scenarios for the Habs, whose fans are in full panic mode. In Toronto the Leafs may have lost to the Senators but their fans are still really positive about the team’s chances this season.

Skip has already given out the fantasy football MVP award while Cub is still wondering what the difference is between power rankings and standings.
